About Hearst Castle
Hearst Castle opened to the public as a California State Park in 1958, but before that it was the home of publisher, movie producer, and art collector William Randolph Hearst (1863–1951). Millions have visited his hilltop San Simeon estate to explore the architecture, art, and gardens of “The Enchanted Hill,” and absorb the stories that accompany them.
Hearst Castle Press provides readers the opportunity to take a close, leisurely look at the unique world Hearst and architect Julia Morgan created high above the Pacific.
About Hearst Castle Press
Hearst Castle Press (HCP) is a collaborative venture between Friends of Hearst Castle, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit cooperating association, and California State Parks.
Museum Director Hoyt Fields authorized the establishment of Hearst Castle Press, which was founded in 2006 by Jana Seely (Museum Curator and Editor-in-Chief of Hearst Castle Press) and Keri Collins (Curatorial Associate and Editor of Hearst Castle Press). Its mission is to help fulfill the educational component of Hearst Castle’s institutional mission: To interpret the architecture and grounds of the estate as created by William Randolph Hearst, and its associated art collections; and to educate and inspire interest in art and history through publications and scholarship.
Through publications, presentations, and exhibitions, Hearst Castle Press is committed to the highest standards of professionalism in the museum field, adherence to impeccable scholarly research accessible to the general reader, and attention to detail in producing visually appealing educational experiences.
Faces of Hearst Castle, the debut publication of Hearst Castle Press, was published in September 2007.
