The rich history of art from ancient Egypt to twentieth-century Europe reveals itself in the faces depicted in the renowned collections of William Randolph Hearst’s hilltop San Simeon estate.

From ancient Egyptian goddesses to Art Deco-era dancers, from mosaic floors to gilded ceilings, the collection houses a multitude of faces in myriad forms and varied materials.

Faces of Hearst Castle is a small-sized gift book (96 pages, trim size 6”x9”) and is the debut publication of Hearst Castle Press, a collaborative venture between Friends of Hearst Castle (a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) cooperating association) and California State Parks.

Hearst Castle was designed by prominent architect Julia Morgan and built from 1919-1947. Since 1957, the estate has been operated and maintained by California State Parks. Hearst Castle is a California State Historical Monument and is nationally accredited by the American Association of Museums.
